Local stuff: Calgary after Notley's carbon tax

http://weaknights.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/wasteland.jpg

After months of Stallin', the NDP government of Alberta has decided to implement, at the same time, its two most attractive ideas: environmental fundamentalism and more taxes (hundreds of dollars a month per average household), in the form of a carbon tax, "a cap on oilsands emissions, a phasing out of coal-fired electricity and an emphasis on [bird-killing] wind power" (here). Add this to the NDP's blow to business via the corporate tax hike. Which is exactly what we need in a time of low oil prices, economic recession, and Justin Trudeau.

The great achievements of the USA in the Middle East

I promised to write about the problems of the US government. Unlike Europe, the USA is mostly flawed in its external, not internal, policy. Recently we have had another example of an extremist religious group originally sponsored by the USA -- ISIS.

Here is an article about ISIS from www.dailymail.co.uk

Fall of the West

http://www.klaus.cz/clanky/3568

A speech by former Czech president Vaclav Klaus about the failings of the EU. Also applicable to North America, especially Canada as a socialist country. The US has only part of these problems. However, the USA has quite big problems of its own, as I will write later.
